In addition to having stared at it for probably hours, cumulatively speaking, I also remember actually walking over it into the mall years ago.
When I lived at Pembroke square and went down to Beale basically every night, I would use it as part of my secret spy route in bad weather.
I would walk through Pembroke to the main lobby, out the front door on main, under the awning at the trolley stop, into the garage, down to the second floor crossing, across that walkway, through the mall, across the other one on peabody place, then take the stairs out to the alley running between Beale and Peabody place, where Maurice would let me in the back door of the tap room.
I wonder where it's going to end up? Seems like a specialized piece of architecture, so I'm guessing in a scrap yard. Oddly sad.
