I've eaten there once before with the illustrious Michael Gross, but I haven't been in a while and I was in the mood for Creole. Mikey B from LovingMyMemphis joined me. I just showed up with no reservations and was told there a ~25 minute wait. We were actually seated in more like 15, despite them being super fucking slammed.
I love the decor of this place, it's a collision of Memphis and New Orleans.

They had a three course menu for $20.15 for dining week, but I had been craving their smothered pork chops since I looked at the menu a week or so ago, so I went with that. Butler had the special, so you'll have to check LovingMyMemphis for his take on it. Here's the special menu:
I started with some Abita beer, because duh.
And like I said before, smothered pork chops with brown gravy over rice.
They were pretty damn good. Not crazy tender, but we did go on a super busy night. Seasoning was spot on and I ate like every fucking grain of rice on my plate despite complaining about how full I was. I would say that's a win. For a side I got the garlic roasted potatoes.
They were pretty solid but had a weird flavor that was kinda overwhelming. Maybe some kind of horseradish or something going on. It wasn't really bad, just kinda weird. I'm still not sure if I liked it or not, to be totally honest. On the other hand, I'm totally sure I liked the bread pudding.
Texture was nice, not too dense, the glaze was amazing, with a bit of cinnamon and sugar without being cloying. I ate way too much of it, again constantly complaining about how full I was. Butler says the bread pudding at Blind Bear is even better, so I clearly must go test this claim very soon.
Overall, Deja Vu is pretty damn solid. I've yet to try anything there I just straight up didn't like and a lot of the things I've tried have been clear winners. The service was also admirable, especially considering how busy they were and the quality of the food they were putting out. Also, this picture is mostly unrelated but how fucking awesome is the camera on the iPhone 6S Plus?
